Emediawire - Lookout Software acquires Web 2.0 pioneer RSSCalendar
Lookout Software, LLC., a developer of Microsoft Outlook calendar sharing application for
users without Exchange Server, OfficeCalendar; and a new AJAX time tracking solution for
SME's, Office Timesheets; announced today that it has acquired RSSCalendar, an innovative
online event and calendaring syndication solution. The acquisition is intended to strengthen
the company's product portfolio by leveraging its knowledge of business-to-business group
and shared calendaring, and Microsoft Outlook add-in development expertise.
Lookout Software has also acquired a provisional patent for RSS syndication of calendars
as part of the acquisition of RSSCalendar in which it will be researching extensively over

Instead of sending an e-mail to a large group of addresses and potentially starting a
long thread, for example, we were able to use RSSCalendar to publish a single RSS file that
our colleagues could subscribe to individually and at their discretion.
We were also able to create events that users could import into their Outlook e-mail clients
or into other applications such as Apple's iCal personal calendar application. In fact,
during extended use here at eWEEK Labs, we found that it is efficient and convenient to
convert and publish an RSS feed to share schedules. Co-workers could subscribe to a
calendar feed and automatically receive notices of new appointments, which could be viewed
through an RSS reader or imported into a Web-based calendar or Outlook.

CNET - RSS Gets Down to Business
Developer John Pacchetti released a trial version of RSSCalendar late last month, and the
free application has quickly become one of the first nonblogging successes for RSS
(Really Simple Syndication), the standard behind Web logs and news aggregator feeds.
RSS applications let online publishers automatically send Web content to subscribers,
giving readers a powerful tool to compile news headlines on the fly from several sources at once.
The RSSCalendar program allows a user to convert and publish calendar
data as an RSS feed. Friends, co-workers and customers can subscribe to the calendar
feed and automatically receive notices of new appointments, which can be viewed through an
RSS reader or imported to a Web-based calendar or Microsoft Outlook...
